Enjoy the flat sweeping paths alongside Caban Coch Dam or head off for a more strenuous mountainous walk. The perfect location to spend the day exploring the great outdoors or just sit and marvel at the structures - especially if the water is flowing fast!

The Cambrian Mountains and the Wye Valley offer completely different experiences and landscapes. The area boasts a dark sky status, perfect for stargazing on a romantic evening. Why not take some time to visit the local kite feeding stations at Gigrin Farm in Rhayader? Watching the majestic Red Kites circle and feed in large numbers is truly breath-taking and it’s worth taking time to sit back and simply gaze at the national bird of Wales.

Rhayader town is a real hidden gem. A bustling market town where you will find lovely local independent shops, cafes and pubs including a traditional hardware store – a real treat and a blast from the past.

Take a trip to Gilfach Nature Reserve, where you will find over 400 acres of open moorland, flower rich grassland and oak woodland, offering a circular nature trail and a great place to enjoy a picnic at one of the spots and simply relax and let the world go by. Or how about a day trip a little further afield to Nant Yr Arian - a hot spot for mountain biking might we add!
