  • Your Hosts

    Meet Andy & Katherine ..

Your hosts Katherine and Andy crept over the border into Wales nearly 20 years ago. They live about a mile from Rhayader. They lead a fairly self-sufficient life style, enjoying home grown food and even home made electricity, both solar PV and wind turbine powering the site.

Andy and Katherine live on site so are usually on hand if required.

90% of the year they run an electric energy surplus all made on site, more than enough to supply the underfloor heating in their home.

They offer luxury, secluded, glamping breaks so others can share the tranquillity that Redwood Retreat offers. To quote Octavia Hill, National Trust Founder, 1895, “We all need space. Unless we have it we cannot reach that sense of quiet in which whispers of better things come to us gently”.

Lovely break to switch off from the world 5/5

Andy and Katherine were lovely hosts, and Muffin the dog was the star of the show! Stayed here for my partners birthday, such a beautiful place with everything you need! Would highly recommend to anyone!

Jack Baker | 06 July 2023

Amazing!!! 5/5

The Hafod was just beautiful. The owners have thought of everything when it comes to this gem of a place! The views outstanding, the bed soooo comfortable - everything high quality. We didn't get to use the inside log burner as as were lucky with the weather, but the log fired hot tub was lovely and you are supplied with as many logs as you need by Andy (owner). Rhayader is a lovely 25 min walk down hill (& just £4.50 taxi back home) with lovely bars/beer gardens/tea rooms. We certainly will be back to the hafod very soon.
