Lovely Location With Room for Improvement. 4.2/5

We recently stayed here and overall found it to be a lovely place in a beautiful location. The setting is very peaceful and relaxing, and the pod itself has a lot of potential for a family getaway. Unfortunately, during our stay there were works being carried out on site which affected the peaceful atmosphere during the daytime. There were cars and vans passing by all the time, and some dust from the works reached our pod. It would have been appreciated if we were informed about this in advance so expectations could be managed beforehand. There were also a few areas where some small improvements could make a big difference to guests comfort. The pod lacked storage space, with very limited room for clothes, bags, or suitcases, which made it feel slightly cramped for a family of four. The bunk beds also felt a little difficult and awkward to climb, particularly for my 6 year old, and there was noticeable dust and cobwebs inside the climbing areas. The children’s sleeping area was quite cold overnight with no obvious way to warm it up. The bathroom door did not lock properly. While the open roof feature above the bed may appeal to some guests, the early morning light woke our children very early each day. It may be helpful if there was an option to cover it during the night. A divider or door between the main living space and children’s sleeping area would also make the layout more practical for families. The hot tub unfortunately was not as warm as expected, so it was difficult to fully relax and enjoy it. We also noticed a slight smell coming from the sofa, possibly from previous guests with dogs. Communication before arrival could also have been a little more helpful. Although my request to have the pod decorated for my 3 year old daughter was quite last minute, it would have been nice to have been offered an alternative suggestion. The same applied when asking about delivery options to the pods, as a little more guidance would have been appreciated. Overall, we did enjoy the stay and the location itself is lovely. However, the ongoing work on site had a much bigger impact on our experience than we expected and it significantly affected both our privacy and our ability to properly relax during the stay.

Weekend in Wales 4.8/5

Burrow View was in a great location, close to the town of Rhayader which has all you need, pubs, cafe, and convenience stores. We took our bikes which I would recommend as you get to see lots more of the area. Especially if you are visiting Elan Valley and the various dams. Overall great weekend and I’d definitely return.

Elan Valley short break 4.5/5

Stayed in a lovely self contained holiday home in Wales. Burrow View was a unique compact holiday let with wonderful views of surrounding countryside. Every morning goats would be grazing outside the property with sheep & cows in nearby fields. Perfect location to visit Elan Valley & town nearby. Hot tub barbecue & fire pit included.

The perfect countryside break! 5/5

We had such a lovely stay at Burrow View. The location is absolutely beautiful, with stunning views and a real sense of privacy. Even though there are a handful of other burrows and shepherds huts on site, the way they’re positioned means you never feel overlooked and you always have a view! The hosts were incredibly considerate, and the burrow was lovely and clean. They’d provided thoughtful essentials like tea, coffee and washing-up liquid (and even some caramel waffles!), which makes such a difference when you’ve just arrived and don’t want to jump straight back in the car for forgotten bits. We brought our dog and he had the best time. Burrow View itself isn’t enclosed, but we used a long line around the iron fire pit and it worked perfectly. If you prefer your dog to roam freely, some of the shepherd’s huts are fully enclosed and might be a better fit. One of the highlights was how close you are to nature. We were even woken one morning by the pygmy goats trotting across the skylight! Rhayader is just a short drive away with plenty of great places to eat, and the Elan Valley is right on the doorstep with breathtaking scenery and gorgeous walks. We couldn’t recommend it more, and we will definitely be returning!

Our little stay in the Hobbit House 5/5

The Burrow View was excellent. Was a really cool little place to stay. The location and views were breathtaking. The beds were super comfortable! The shower was also a highlight! In the summer I can imagine this place would be at its best. The children loved it too and were really disappointed to leave. With the Elan Valley a short drive away there is plenty to do. If I was to be a little harsh would say storage for our stuff was a little tight, however they’ve done well to maximise the comforts in the accommodation, so really not a big deal. As a suggestion maybe a little more lighting on site to help navigate if arriving at night and some signage to direct to the different locations but these were really small issues that didn’t cause any problems. Would definitely visit again!

A lovely little break 5/5

Stayed at burrow view for a weekend in February with our 2 girls. Absolutely loved it, great location to the village and shops, gorgeous scenery and the girls loved seeing the baby goats. Would recommend.

Sophie Cornock | 03 March 2026

Burrow stay 4.7/5

Had a lovely stay in Burrow View. Beautiful scenery, lot’s to do locally, kids had a great time in the hot tub, would recommend. My only feedback would be to have something that tells you about the accommodation and site in the property. Eg how to heat the property and where the bin store is.

Guest | 19 February 2026

Very poor cleaning 2.2/5

Place is very beautiful with excellent view I would definitely recommend even if I will get chance I would like to go there again but they really need to work out something about cleaning because it wasn’t clean properly pets hair was everywhere and we found a massive black spider under our pillow we been there with my two year old daughter and she had vomiting whole night because of the pet hairs and we couldn’t sleep whole night. I can share even pictures if they want no option here for uploading.

The Burrow View 5/5

Our recent stay at Burrow View in February was nothing short of exquisite. I wholeheartedly recommend this accommodation and am already eager to rebook, this time bringing my family along. The property boasts tasteful decoration throughout, creating a truly inviting atmosphere. Guests will find a fully equipped kitchen, perfect for all culinary needs, and exceptionally comfortable beds ensuring a restful night’s sleep. The outdoor space is a particular highlight, featuring an expansive dining area, a BBQ, a cosy fire pit, and a generously sized hot tub – perfect for relaxation. Beyond the accommodation, there’s an abundance of activities to enjoy. We particularly loved exploring the Elan Valley with our dogs and discovering charming country pubs in the local town.

Kerry Raven | 09 February 2026

Hot tub heaven 5/5

A perfect stay in the gorgeous Welsh countryside.. the hut was really well appointed. Hot tubing with stunning views was the perfect end to days of sightseeing & walking.. was nervous the hut would be cold as we stayed mid December but the heating system was fabulous.. my only negative comment is no rail to hang clothes and no shelving to store bathroom products, however these are very minor issues..

Karen Ebbon | 30 December 2025

Excellent 5/5

It is such a beautiful place , we had the best time ! I would definitely recommend going to anyone that asks . We loved it so much and can’t wait to book again

Birthday break 5/5

Arrived on a beautiful sunny day with red kites flying above. Hot tub ready for first dip of a three night stay. Plenty of pillows, dining Al fresco, everything we needed. We will bring loungers next time as it was sunbathing weather. Radio, tv and all mod cons. We definitely made the most of chilling as it was over 25 degrees. Views amazing, sunrise and sunsets beautiful. Our Maddie loved the smells and rest days too! Thank you

Suzanne Stevens | 26 August 2025

A wonderfully relaxing stay 4.8/5

Our family of 4 had a fantastic time staying here. Lots to do, friendly staff and neighbours and the views are amazing. Only slight downside was the light coming through the skylight early in the morning. I would bring a sleep mask next time.

What a smashing few days away 4.8/5

We had a great stay in the hobbit houses. The weather was great and the hot tub was excellent. The goats that roamed the site were such fun to watch especially when having a BBQ. We are already planing a return trip with friends See you soon Les

Les Slocombe | 21 June 2025

A perfect short break 4.7/5

Spent two nights here. It’s a lovely spot with commanding views. The accommodation was fine for two but would be a bit more challenging with 3 or 4. The cabin is modern and well presented but does lack any real storage for food (apart from fridge and freezer) and clothes. Overall, we were really impressed and would definitely return.

Charles Swaine | 16 May 2025

A Peaceful and Unique Stay 5/5

We recently stayed at Burrow View in Wales and had a very enjoyable experience. The underground house was unique and offered beautiful surroundings, with views over fields full of sheep and highland cows. We even had a few visits from the farm’s goats, which roam freely and added to the charm. After spending the day walking, sitting in the hot tub and taking in the views was peaceful and very relaxing. The property itself was clean, comfortable, and well presented. If I had to mention any minor issues, it would be that there was no storage for clothing, and there was only one mirror in the property. This made getting ready to go out a little slow, and my wife had nowhere suitable to sit and dry her hair. The only major drawback for us was the loud fan that runs constantly. During the day this was not a problem, but at night it made it difficult to sleep, especially for a light sleeper. As we only stayed for two nights, it was manageable, but a longer stay could have made this more of an issue. Overall, despite these small points, we had a lovely stay and enjoyed the peaceful location and unique experience that Burrow View offers.

Richard Carpenter | 27 April 2025

Short break 5/5

Lovely accommodation, easy to find, very clean, fab views- tasty eggs and lemon cake in honesty booth at entrance -cattle very quiet and lively Pygmy goats around – Red kites flying overhead – and nice weather made for a superb weekend – went to Red kites feeding nearby and tour of the dams was spectacular.

Jon Cousins | 08 March 2025

Fantastic stay 4.8/5

What a place! Not only is it set in a beautiful hillside but it was also spotlessly clean and so functional. It had everything we needed for cooking. My only con was the fan that’s on permanently. I’m a light sleeper so haven’t slept for 4 nights however that did not detract from the stunning place and lodge! Would definitely visit again.

Lucy Fox | 22 February 2025

Great place. Great location. 4.8/5

Amazing location with some stunning views. Location was great for us, with the town just 5 mins away in the car for the shops or a pub lunch. And then Elan Valley 10 mins drive away too. If you had a bike you could centre yourself here and have some amazing rides. Only slight downside was the airflow fan in the hut was constantly running and it was very loud so sleeping was not easy, luckily I had ear plugs. But all in all an amazing place and a credit to the owners.

Matthew Fellows | 08 February 2025

Great few days away 4.5/5

Great few days away, clean and a great location. It stated on the email that we would be supplied with washing up liquid but we were not and the round sky light in the roof could do with a blind to stop the sun beaming down on you in the morning waking you up but apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed our few days away

Rebecca Healy | 20 November 2024

Amazing 5/5

Amazing facilities and amazing location. Enjoyed the peace and quiet away from a busy life. Loved the cosy little hobbit house.

Nicola Burton | 04 November 2024

Excellent location but needs extras 4.2/5

We enjoyed our time at burrow view mostly as the location is perfect. The house itself was slightly disappointing. A few issues that need changing to make this amazing. More hooks, lack of hanging space for coats, wet towels etc. radiator in bathroom too small for lots of towels. Needs a shelf too in the bathroom . After 3 days of messy floors from boots, dogs etc the floor was horrible, happy to clean it but needs a supply of a broom! The fan noise was absolutely awful, no way of turning it off? Having messaged the number provided no one responded. 3 nights of noise with crap sleep we were happy to leave. This is a lovely house but has issues that need fixing. Wet towels create damp and the smell of damp especially in the bathroom was overwhelming. Would stay again but needs improvement.

James Brown | 03 November 2024

Burrow view 5/5

Our stay at the Burrow view was perfect. We had a lovely view, looking out at the cows in the field and goats walking by. We could walk our dog around the farm and take in the views. Plenty of space inside on a rainy day and use of the hot tub was a bonus.

Danielle Young | 01 October 2024

Lovely Hobbit Hole 4.5/5

Stayed here for several days with our two dogs and had a great time. Look out for the Pygmy goats wandering loose. Very cute but one of our dogs was petrified of them and spent a lot of time hiding in the shower room. Site service was ok…..a corkscrew was forthcoming when we found there was not one in the property but a hairdryer was not. Minor matters that did not impact on the pleasure of our stay.

David Goodman | 14 September 2024

Great stay! 5/5

Amazing stay! Just what we needed, I have already recommended to all our family and friends. The only fault I can find is that we did not stay longer. We are already looking to book for next year to bring the children.

Burrow view 5/5

We stayed at burrow view for the gp championship , it’s so beautiful I was really pleased with the accommodations as we booked 3 different ones with family, so much so we have booked to return next year again for the gp, the views are to die for especially from the hot tub, it’s so peaceful and tranquil, everything you needed for a weekend away was catered for and pip who we dealt with was absolutely love so helpful, such a beautiful place

Mandy Lewis | 13 August 2024

Great quiet place 4.8/5

Great place to stay quiet with excellent views A short drive to town and the elan valley Perfect for walkers and cyclists or great for a relaxing break Very clean property and surroundings areas Plenty of space between pods to give you privacy Would highly recommend Will definitely book again

10/10 5/5

Burrow view was amazing , it had everything you would need so could pack light , we went with our 3 year old and 6 month old and it was perfect , we all loved watching the animals from our window and having a little daily walk over to see them , the booking was so easy , I don’t think I pressed confirm when requesting a high chair and cot but as soon as we arrived I rang up and they were driven up to up within minutes – Top service – we loved it here that much that we booked another stay whilst still there which we can’t wait for

Amazing stay! 5/5

We had the most amazing stay. The property was spacious, lovely decor, comfortable bed, modern bathroom and everything you need for a relaxing stay. The views are stunning and it is so peaceful. Especially while sat in the hot tub. The extra hampers we ordered were a lovely touch (everything was so fresh) We will definitely be returning and recommend this property to anyone wanting a peaceful break.

What an idyllic stay! 4.7/5

Fantastic location, beautiful views and everything you need inside. Mattresses super comfy too! It was a lovely bonus of being able to order a hamper as a treat – this was delivered quite later but the team kept in touch and let us know. The only think I’d suggest for improvement is to provide hand rails to assist climbing to the top bunk. Our youngest who is almost 8, couldn’t manage to get up / down independently. Handles to provide more stability would be that one extra touch to help. We would definitely return here again! An extra treat was the ever active sky, with Red Kites constantly circling – stunning to watch! Thank you Burrows View!!

Stunning 5/5

I stayed at the burrow view with my husband and 2 young children (ages 6 and 3) and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The decor inside was absolutely stunning – down to every last detail, the beds were the comfiest we’ve stayed in, and the hot tub – wow! The most incredible view. Perfect location to explore the Elan Valley or Brecon Beacons. Would highly recommend.

Lovely place for a weekend away! 5/5

Burrow View was the perfect place for a weekend away with my boyfriend! The place was easy to find and tucked away in a beautiful location, with many lovely walks only a short drive away. The area was incredibly peaceful which was great when enjoying ourselves outside in the hot tub. Will definitely be recommending to friends and family!

Get away from it all 5/5

Amazing place to escape to in the middle of wales. Such an easy escape, the house is lovely and clean and has everything you need. Kids loved walking on top of the house and going in the hot tub. The view is stunning and you get to wake up to it every day. Can’t wait to go back.

February in a Hobbit hole 5/5

I took my two 14 year old boys away for a half term break and despite the weather we had a great stay at Burrow View. It was really cosy and welcoming and the view from the hot tub was great. The information about the local amenities was super helpful, just to note the Turkish takeaway is cash only. The Elan Valley is amazing for walking and we saw the Red Kites being fed at Gigrin Farm which was stunning.

Excellent! 5/5

My partner and I went for a birthday treat this weekend! We only stayed for 1 night but we had the most relaxing night here! We also used the hot tub which was amazing. The burrow is out this world, it really is luxury. We would definitely recommend and would 100% return 🙂

Stunning 4.2/5

The views and location are just out of this world. Could do with a sigh to say holidays wales on the road side and signposts to where you are saying. However the burrow itself was lovely so fun and the kids loved it. Could do with more variation and heating as condensation was dripping off the skylight on to the bed. Jacuzzi was brilliant watching the sunset and the view was just stunning. The jacuzzi however was very cloudy and scum level all around the edges which was disappointing. Would like to come back in the summer as we did enjoy the stay.

Burrow view 4.8/5

Fab place to relax and enjoy view!! It snowed while we were there making it even better The only issue was the dome window in the roof was dripping water on bed due to condensation

Amazing stay ! 5/5

Such an amazing trip – would definitely book again to stay in Burrows view. If I was going to real picky I would suggest a few hooks for coats/towels, a full length mirror which there was definitely space for on one of the walls & there was no bread knife for cutting our loaf of bread which was a pain but very minor ! Otherwise we absolutely could not complain ! The breakfast hamper was definitely worth the extra £25 also – thank you for a great stay. Would definitely re book & have already recommended to friends/family who want to stay X

Family staycation – disappointing 3.3/5

Just returned from a family staycation at burrow view, we checked in and noticed a really strong damp smell within the cabin, we opened all doors and hoped this would go, later we noticed the curtains are full of mould and upon stripping the beds when leaving we found 2 of the 3 mattress protectors to be full of mould – not happy. We found for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenagers with 2 small dogs) we were very cramped and with no hanging space to get 8 towels dry (4 for hot tub and 4 for showers) no hooks to hang anything it’s no wonder the place smells mouldy and has mould in the fabrics and bedding – not very hygienic! . Very disappointed really – having paid a lot for a 7 night stay. We ran out of hot water twice but had 2 power cuts so that could be linked. Also think for longer breaks of 7 nights towels and linen need to be changed part way through – it’s pretty ropey to expect you to use the same towels all week when you can’t even hang them up to dry them! Also observed lots of guests arriving and leaving and not once was a hot tub emptied, cleaned and refilled as advertised when you book. Definitely not worth the £1400 we paid.

Family staycation 4.8/5

Great location with stunning views. Cosy and comfortable. Only negative was the lack of hanging space. There is no where to hang clothes or coats and the bathroom only has a small towel rail for hanging towels.

Views are stunning 4.7/5

We came for a return stay with our children this time. They absolutely loved the little underground house. We couldn’t get them out of the hot tub and our 15MO had a ball crawling and exploring. Views are stunning. We had a lovely stay at ‘borrows view’ Thank you.

Beautiful stay would defin return ?? 4.8/5

Had an amazing time at Burrow View, the scenery and location were beautiful. It was clean. There are local shops just down the road if you need anything. The kids loved the hot tub. The decor inside was really nicely done. Quiet , peaceful. Sheep and cows wandering in the fields outside. I would say take an eye mask though! Lol as the light from the cute tunnel hole in the ceiling in the morning does disturb you. As it’s right over the bed ??? apart from that everything was 10/10

Birthday getaway 5/5

This was the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some birthday celebrations. The hobbit hut itself was just amazing, well designed, fabulously furnished with everything you needed. They has every appliance we could’ve needed, making it an easy and stress free stay. The location is stunning, with highland cows and sheep in the field opposite and red kites flying above – great to watch whilst sitting in the hot tub. There’s plenty to do around the area, but as we only stayed 2 nights we made the most of the hut itself with a quick visit to Elan Valley which is just a 10 minute drive away. We enjoyed so much we’re already planning our next trip back, an amazing trip – highly recommend.

Lovely stay! 4.5/5

What a lovely stay! Burrow view was just what we needed! The views were great, the kids and the dog thoroughly enjoyed it. Everything was so clean and tidy, the skylight (although fun for the kids to peer in) it wasn’t great at night/early morning. It could do with a blind. Make sure to take an eye mask! Overall fantastic stay and we will return.

Beautiful relaxing stay 4.3/5

Gorgeous accommodation everything you needed, comfortable bed, unreal scenery. Only 2 point to comment on, could do with some hooks to hang things in bathroom and in the rest of the place to help keep things tidy and clear whilst staying there. Also we didnt have hot water i should have reported it quicker but we were only there 2 nights. Overall would highly recommend the Burrows View to stay and will def return

Second stay Burrow View 4.7/5

This was our second visit to Burrow View and unfortunately did not meet up to our expectations after our first wonderful Visit in November 2022. The accommodation itself was clean and warm and well furnished as previously. However there was an issue with the main windows whereby the seals have blown and there was condensation within the double glazing which meant we could not see out. This was less than ideal as we had so enjoyed relaxing and watching the red kites and the view on our previous stay in November 2022. We had a breakfast hamper which was lovely local produce and more than enough for the two of us for both mornings we were there on our previous stay however this time it appeared the food was more supermarket purchase and not local produce judging by the packaging. Customer service did offer to move us to Otter view which made up for the issue of the windows. We have booked again with the hope the windows are fixed.

First visit to burrow view 5/5

This was our first visit to Burrow View and it did not disappoint. The location is beautiful and looks over the valley with red kites circling above whilst we sat in the hot tub it really was idyllic. The accommodation itself was clean and warm and well furnished. The bed was very comfortable and it was well laid out with the table by the windows so you could look at the scenery whilst having breakfast. We had a breakfast hamper which was lovely local produce and more than enough for the two of us for both mornings we were there. We will definitely be returning.

Overall great stay 4.8/5

Wonderful place to stay. We would definitely stay again. All our friends are keen to stay there too. My only criticism is that there was no hot water until the last night we were there, and it was snowing during our stay so rather cold.
